Try new gear, learn from a pro, cheap!

Canon Photo Safari, Gloucester Maritime Heritage Area, Massachusetts The Essex National Heritage Area and Hunt’s Photo & Video are co-hosting four Photo Safaris in the beautiful Essex National Heritage Area. I went to the Canon Photo Safari at the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Area last year. The program offers safaris at different locations, each with a different equipment sponsor such as Sony, Nikon or Canon.

This is a great opportunity to learn from a professional photographer for cheap. The photographer led us around the area discussing how he approaches his photography of the area. He also dropped little tips and tricks about how to get the most from your gear.

Speaking of gear, Hunts Photo and Video brought a pile of great gear for use to use. We were able to sign out cameras, lenses and accessories and take them around using them on location. If we wanted to exchange anything and try something else, the staff was there to help. Everyone was extremely helpful. Most of them were photographers themselves. I remember one employee showing me photographs he had taken of Tiger Woods the week before.
