Eric, Jen, Delsin

As you can tell from the URL, ericholsinger.com, my name is Eric Holsinger. I’m a 30-something father/husband leading a normal life as a Java Developer in the Banking/Finance Industry. Actually, I work for a very cool, very small startup software company that makes software for the Banking/Finance Industry.

I have an interest in photography and enough equipment to make a real attempt at some photography of my own. I sort of volunteered as a MaineToday.com Seen Team photoblogger for a little over a year. It was financial suicide, but I was able to apply myself to photography with a purpose. I used it as an opportunity to branch out and take photos of things I normally would not. You can view my photos on my photoblogger page on the MaineToday.com website.

I also have started some stock photography, with some success. You can see my stock photos on iStockPhoto.com.

I like experimenting with software and programming languages. I’m not interested in them as science or mathematical exercises. I like programming because I like to make cool things that I find useful. Programming is craft, and languages are tools I use to make something.

I have been working with a game programming engine called, appropriately, Game Editor. So far, most of my work has been experiments of my own and helping other people in the game-editor.com/forum with solutions to problems they’ve encountered. I like Game Editor because it is cross-platform, being able to develop for Windows, Windows Mobile, Linux, and GP2X.

More recently I have been looking at Flash as a serious option.

I have three other projects online:

  • netrailhead.com - information about northern new england outdoors
  • foliomaker.com - an automatic web portfolio tool, old but still works
  • edhgames.com - my website for game projects, which is just getting started
